Rare Disease Day – February 28, 2022

Show Your Stripes!

The zebra is a symbol of rare disorders because medical students are taught to thiink of common diseases first – horses when they hear hoofbeats – not the rare zebra. Also, every zebra’s stripes are different so the zebra has come to symbolize the uniqueness of each rare disease and each individual.
